Thousands of Victorians will head underground next month to see the $10.2 billion West Gate Tunnel in a community fun run and open day event ahead of the project’s official unveiling.

The Sunday Herald Sun can reveal a community open day and fundraiser will be held on Sunday, November 16, when up to 50,000 people will head underground for an 8km fun run or a 2.5km walk.
Money raised from the fun run and walk will go towards two western suburbs charities; education and active transport group Community Bike Hub, and asylum seeker and refugees support group West Welcome Wagon.
Tickets for the open day will prioritise access for local residents, before the remainder are offered to the public on October 24. Register here for the open day walk or run.
