Local Impact and the Community Bike Hub are excited to announce they are the new managers of the Brimbank Traffic School, a bicycle education facility located within the picturesque Green Gully Reserve, Keilor Downs.

Brimbank Traffic School – formerly known as the Brimbank Bicycle Education Centre – is a council-owned facility where children learn to ride bikes, navigate roads safely and develop cycling skills on a purpose-built course. The facility is also a beloved party and event venue, utilised by families and community groups from across Melbourne’s west.

“We are thrilled to take over the management of this incredible community resource, and relaunch as the Brimbank Traffic School,” says Andy Moutray-Read, Chair of the Community Bike Hub.

“Providing a learn-to-ride program at Brimbank Traffic School is a natural next step for the Community Bike Hub. This is the link that was missing in our education program – now people can learn how to repair, refurbish and ride bikes, all within the Bike Hub’s network of community facilities,” he continues.

The bicycle education facility at Green Gully has been operating for over 30 years, and has welcomed thousands of first-time bike riders since opening. Lions Club and Rotary have been long-term supporters of the facility, and have added features to increase accessibility and variety to the course.

The Community Bike Hub team seeks to build on this great legacy, continuing bike education, while also planning to provide space for community events and programming in partnership with local neighbourhood house, Tin Shed St Albans in 2025.

Enquiries about the Brimbank Traffic School’s learn-to-ride program and birthday party bookings are now open, and can be directed to trafficschool@communitybikehub.com.au

Information about the Traffic School’s accessibility features, community programming and public free-ride sessions will be available on the Community Bike Hub website and social media profiles from 2025.
