The Community Bike Shed’s mission is to provide refugees and others in need with bicycles, and the equipment needed for safe cycling.
We receive second hand bikes donated by community members, fix them up, and then give them to refugees and other people in need. Bicycles can help people to get around, giving them increased access to the community, as well as providing a rewarding leisure activity.
We’ve created a space where community members can come together to share knowledge and learn new skills around repairing and maintaining bikes. By recycling old bikes we also promote sustainability, reducing waste and giving new life to an otherwise unused object. The community bike shed promotes active lifestyles in our community, encouraging people to cycle more often by providing resources that make cycling accessible.
Over the last five years Community Bike Shed has provided over 650 bike to refugees and others in our community.
Community Bike Shed runs on Saturdays from 10am to 5pm. If you would like to donate a bike you can bring it to the bike hub during our opening hours. If you can’t bring it down please get in touch, we may be able to arrange pickup.
